I found this piece in the Portfolios of Teacher's Education by accident.Seldom i appreciate the delicate shade of poetry, due to its 'shady',ambigous, complicated nature...but one glance at the words weaved in the poem, the 'strong' aura emerges which i think is best at describing the learning difficulties of a child in a classroom.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
tracks were laid
the first half of the century
when teaching kids efficiently
involved proceedings on rails like products
from a factory...
i know a bright guy who was stuck
in a class that did not match
his intelligence and was
not challenged
was not interested
did not excel
but did
enough,to pass
like a stone
gathering no moss.

i know i slipped on a track
that went a little fast
for me, but was packed
along with the current.
i kept my head
above the water
better for the fight.
a track that's not your own
can lead to a place
not your own
invention or desire
nothing is so steel-fine
cast like the future
of a child misdirected.
[poem written by Mick Wager,1996]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Speaking of which,i wonder how this person could deeply reflected his teaching experience and draw a rationale that lies within through this genuine literary piece. If it was me,i think it would take ages to get the flow of ideas and words framed in a nice, sequential ryhme of a poem.Or maybe,it could be simpler if i try to cut down my ''worry-and-think-too-much'' attitude and instil a 'reasonable & take easy'' manner while dealing with such matter.
A child misdirected..
isn't it a B.I.G waste??
Should the child be taught, nurtured, tendered, fostered in a secure, sensible, achievable, fun and engaging approach...plus the PROFOUND skill of getting them 'see' why those things are important for them to know and fully grasp the essence is something that should not be ignored.
Now i could see the reasons why teachers and lecturers LOVE the prospect of giving out L.O.A.D.S of homework.
Man,its kinda 'cruel' at times (and a R.e.a.L pain for sure),but when those stuff turn out extremely useful,i couldn't help but so grateful to respected ones mentioned.
Still, above all..it roots back to the 'strength' and motivation given by Allah SWT.And we,as His servants should be grateful, thankful and work on the good deeds as He wishes.
''Sesungguhnya segala kekuatan itu hadir dengan izin Allah SWT.Maka berdoalah dan berusahalah untuk mencapai redha-Nya''
