~have a Go, have a Tae-Kwan-Do!~

....Seeing is believing,
....for the eyes couldn't lie,
....thus be the power of trust.

~the all-together-'pattern'~

Fascinated by the world of martial art, i've decided to jump into Tae-Kwan-Do (ITF) when i started my secondary school in Johor Bahru. I learnt a lot from the basics-punchings,kickings and jumpings!!(these are important skills to be applied during 'sparring') The training sessions took place during the evening weekends (8-10pm) because our schedule were full with prep. and tuition classes on the weekdays (hostel regulation, as usual). Our instructors, if im not mistaken, are Mr.Lim & Mr. Sam, both have almost the same character (strict yet patient) which at times could be dangerously 'evil' when we happened to be goofing a lot on the training ground where the serious concentration are expected. Penalties???Ja.......jang...........the screwed-up-push-ups for 40 to 50 times...depends on their sympathy..ahaks!However, would you believe that actually from the push-up-trainings..it turns you into a much 'tougher' and 'positive' learner, although the whole body ended up in aches and the blisters on both feet, for every weekend, are considered as a normal incident.

~'Dan Gun'-The 21 movements diagram~

My growing interest on Tae Kwan Do motivates me to take part in tournaments( for patterns,one named as 'Dan Gun' -the 21 movements) and to instil the courage of taking the mixed-'grading'-sessions!. At the age of 14, being a girl who entered an all-girls-school for secondary education yet ended up having a 'sparring' with boys from all-boys-school every weekend...is a complete nightmare.Of course, both sides always trying hard to blow each other's head off, for it makes a point for us to keep our pride and head high!!Looking back on this, i couldn't help but to smile at my 'childish' act which i supposed is derived from a strong sense of idealism for girls could performed better,and much-much-better than boys!!

::How 'Dan-Gun' is performed::

I read up some background study about Tae-Kwan-Do(provided by Wikipedia.com), for it helps me appreciating the art thus making an attempt to acknowledge its origin and the culture from where it develops.And so it explains....

::The amazing 'Korean Tigers' demo-show::

Taekwondo (also spelled tae kwon do or 'taekwon-do') is a hard martial art originating in Korea. An amalgamation of Chinese, Japanese, and traditional Korean fighting styles, taekwondo has become the world's most commonly practiced martial art, and is the national sport of Korea, as well as an Olympic Sporting event.

In Korean, derived from hanja, tae means "to strike or smash with the foot"; kwon means "to strike or smash with the hand"; and do means "way" or "path". Hence, taekwondo is loosely translated as "the way of the foot and the fist". Taekwondo's popularity has resulted in the divergent evolution of the martial art. As with many other martial arts, taekwondo is a combination of combat technique, self-defense, sport, exercise, entertainment, and philosophy.

Interested to join??better late than never...have a go, have a Tae-Kwan -Do!!
